GMC Terrain Will Be Made in U.S.A.

false false
In the coming year, expect the GMC Terrain to be even more American made. General motors is moving operations for the construction of this crossover vehicle to the Spring Hill, Nashville. This plant has been idle for some time now. Vehicles from this plant help fill lots at Ferguson Superstore in Broken Arrow, OK.

Around 2000 employees throughout Tennessee would be back to work if the plant goes back into operation before year's end.

"It's very encouraging news, it's very positive news," Spring Hill Mayor Michael Dinwiddie said in an interview. "I'm certainly very optimistic, and it's great news for this area. ... Hopefully this does come to fruition and once again change the history of the area -- start producing cars again, start lifting up the economy."1

The mayor reinforced his point: "Everyone I've talked to is optimistic that something positive is going to happen with the plant. The tricky part is pinpointing a time when that is going to happen."2

GMC's Terrain comes with two engine options: a 2.4-liter four-cylinder with direct injection, and a 3.0-liter DOHC direct injected V6 delivering an estimated 264 horsepower. The 2.4 liter produces highway fuel economy of 32 mpg, and city rating of 22. Both engines are mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. An ECO mode activates optimal fuel economy by lowering torque.
